Steal Romantic Moments in Waikiki – With Kids in Tow
Hawaii is one of those dream destinations on everyone’s bucket list, including your kids! It also happens to be one of the most romantic destinations in the world. If you’re a parent, then you know it’s no easy feat to keep the spark alive with tiny tyrants dictating your schedule and activities. But romance and family holidays don’t have to be mutually exclusive. At My Hawaii, we’ll show you how to make it happen. So, take advantage of our Hawaii Hot Deals and bring the little ones on the trip of a lifetime! Keep the spark alive while holidaying with kids. Here, we share with you how to steal romantic moments in Waikiki with children in tow.
Waikiki Beach with the Kids
Waikiki Beach with the Kids
Nothing beats a beach day with your water babies in Waikiki. These are truly memories you’ll hold for a lifetime. As someone who was lucky enough to enjoy family Hawaiian holidays as a child, I can attest to that. There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy while you and your love soak up the sun. Give them a bucket and spade and wile the hours away on the shores of Waikiki.
Family Time on Diamond Head
Family Time on Diamond Head
If you’ve had your fill of surf and sand (could you ever?), or the kids have the energy to burn, turn your attention to the iconic Diamond Head. It’s an easy walk that takes 90 minutes at a leisurely pace. If you can manage it, beat the crowds with a sunrise hike when the park opens at 6 am. Holding hands with your partner will ignite the connection on your family adventure.
Romantic Ideas in Waikiki for Parents
- Even something as simple as sitting and watching the sunset together, while the kids are eating dinner in the room, or watching a movie, can be especially romantic. Up the romance and order pina coladas to your balcony.
- When you’re on the beach as a family, steal a precious kiss.
- Taking a family beach walk, or hiking up Diamond Head with the crew? Something as simple as holding hands as a duo can build your connection as a duo.
- How many family photos do you have? Probably tonnes. Any couple photos? Probably none. Be sure to capture some moments of the two of you.
- The bathrooms at Ka’i La Waikiki Beach by Hilton have luxe, deep baths set against floor-to-ceiling marble. Why not take a romantic bath together while the kids are asleep?
- Get a babysitter, hire a car, and drive to the North Shore together. You’ll feel young, wild, and free. Not to mention, exploring and having new adventures together forges new neural pathways that tell us this connection is exciting, keeping the romance alive.
- If you can, book adjoining rooms, to give you both some privacy. The family suite at Romer Waikiki has a barn door, creating seclusion for the master bedroom. It’s nice to speak to one another without a whisper!
- As a couple, you can also reminisce about each day in the evenings over a glass of wine or cup of tea. What were your most magical moments? Especially think about the ones that weren’t just created for photos – those genuinely magical moments.
- Enjoy a coffee or meal together while the kids enjoy the space or sand around Tropics at Hilton Hawaiian Village.
- Be sure to take some solo time as individuals. Being together as a family on holiday is wonderful but you also deserve (and need!) your own space. If that means getting a facial or going to a museum for some peace, go for it! Self-love always comes first.
- Take a game with you for when the kids are asleep to reignite the intimacy! We recommend packing these couple connection cards for a date under the stars!
It’s the small moments, rather than grand gestures, that will see you feeling connected again on holiday.
Kids Club Family Cultural Experiences
Kids Club Family Cultural Experiences
If the sun isn’t shining or you’re after a different pace, Hawai’i has plenty of alternatives. Take a trip to Pearl Harbour for a dose of history the kids will never forget and spark some deep and meaningful discussions for later. The Polynesian Cultural Centre on O’ahu’s North Shore is another unmissable attraction. The centre celebrates the cultures of all the different Polynesian islands including Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti, Samoa, and of course Hawai’i. Enjoy some quiet time in the immersive cinema presentation or join the fun at the award-winning Ali’i Luau.
