“As a seasoned traveller to Hawai’i, I keep coming back for more. There’s something about this place that makes it different from any other island; it’s the culture and history that vibrates through every natural and man-made landmark and experience. My favourite thing to do is relax in the infinity pool at Sheraton Waikiki. I love meandering through the historic halls of the stunning Moana Surfrider, then grabbing more cocktails and a bite to eat at the open-air bar whilst gazing over the Pacific Ocean. There’s simply no better feeling. When I visit Hawai’i, I want nothing on my agenda. I just want to soak in the serenity, wander the streets to make more discoveries, and hit up Starbucks every morning for the Coconut Frappuccino. Slather me in coconut sunscreen and I’m good to go. There’s no place like Hawai’i.” ~ Leah.

“I’m already planning to return to Hawai’i. The last time I was there, I spent a lot of time at Dukes dining on the famous Cookie Dough Hula Pie. It’s a must-taste. The omelette station here was incredible too. I also loved travelling north and grabbing a bite from a Shrimp Truck for lunch. Another highlight was the macadamia farm – yum – and the Dole Pineapple Plantation where we enjoyed the iconic pineapple soft serve which was delicious. The Cheesecake Factory was also high on my favourites list. The amazing seafood platter at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki’s restaurant will no doubt tempt me again and again – this was also my favourite resort during my stay in Hawai’i. The rooms were spacious and comfy, there’s a great coffee shop downstairs and they served up the best buffet breakfast in the whole of Waikiki!” ~ Sarah.

“Don’t pack too much for Hawai’i, you’ll end up with so much shopping to bring home and you’ll need space for it! Shop ’til you drop at the outlets in Waikele – you’ll grab some excellent bargains here. Along Waikiki Beach Walk and Luxury Row you’ll find high-end brands, souvenir stores, artisan boutiques, and loads of restaurants and entertainment. Don’t miss the large shopping centre, Ala Moana – you won’t be able to resist a few purchases here! Plus, at International Market Place, there is something for everyone. And there are so many ABC stores with everything you can imagine. Overall, I could not believe the huge number of things to see and do in Hawai’i! From the bustling hub of shopping on Waikiki Beach to the beautiful North Shore and all the sites, restaurants, shops, and bars in between, Hawai’i was an endless treasure trove of fun and adventure. My favourite resort was Prince Waikiki, as the rooms were spacious and luxurious and a short distance from the Ala Moana Shopping Centre. While I brought home some retail beauties, it’s the incredible memories I’ll have forever.” ~ Jacky.

“OOOOH, ok The Marriot Pa’ina Waikiki Luau in Hawai’i was incredible! It was just like the Hawai’ian movies. The Hawai’ian people were so warm and kind, welcoming us in with fresh flower leis and a Mai Tai cocktail. To begin, a welcome singer was performing as they hand-embellished (removable) traditional tattoos on our arms. As the performance ensued, the storyteller told narratives of each dance, so it felt super immersive and educational but also vibrant and captivating to watch. Each hula dance told a different story of Hawai’ian history, which was beautiful to witness. There was also an incredible father and son fire twirling, and the evening was completed with each dancer joining the crowd to dance with us. We also enjoyed a buffet and drinks throughout. My friend even got up on stage and danced the hula with the men at the end! This was an experience I’ll never forget.” ~ Nia.

“I’m a surfing nut so, as the birthplace of surfing, Hawai’i has always been on my bucket list. The fact that there are waves to suit both beginners and professionals makes the Aloha State extremely appealing to me, and many other surfers. My recent trip did not disappoint! My main memory from Hawai’i is the water. Whether it was the view of the Pacific from the top of Diamond Head, the way the hotels lined the shore, or the actual feel of the water as I rode the waves, I had so many spectacular moments in and around the water. Best of all was the way The Royal Hawaiian backed onto the beach – I had direct access to the beach to make the most of the waves! Be sure to take sunscreen, the heat is strong!” ~ Ashlee.

“Hiking up Diamond Head to view Waikiki Beach is a must-do in my books, along with many other great hiking adventures! Whether up Diamond Head, along trails outside of Waikiki, or to the Manoa or Waimao Falls, there is so much to do, see, and experience when you explore Hawai’i on foot. Take old hiking shoes, as the treks are pretty muddy.” ~ Nicky.

“For the most incredible snorkelling, head to Magic Island right near Waikiki you can spot turtles – you don’t have to venture far to find breathtaking beauty. Some resorts include snorkel gear, otherwise, you can grab this from the trusty ABC stores that are on every corner like we did. Don’t forget to head to the North Shore in O’ahu to snorkel with the sea turtles for an unforgettable experience! Also, we loved snorkelling at the black sand beach (hatchlings are seasonal) on the Island of Hawai’i.” ~ Rach.

“Wherever you travel in Hawai’i, you’ll encounter beautiful Hawai’ian people and culture. I was blown away by the culture and friendly nature of the people. It seemed that everyone wanted to help and it felt nice to have people eager to go the extra mile! The Royal Hawaiian made me feel like I was on a small tropical island, and there was more space in the rooms than I expected. The vibe was total tranquillity. And the luau here, every Monday and Thursday evening, was a beautiful traditional dance and celebration of Hawai’ian culture – a feast of food and hula! A visit to Pearl Harbour is a must.” ~ Morgan.

“Everywhere you look is stunning with beaches to mountain ranges – it’s hard to take a bad photo in Hawai’i. I enjoyed the drive along the coast from Waikiki to the North Shore. Watching the waves crash toward the sand on one side, while being surrounded by lush greenery on the other was truly incredible! My top activity would be snorkelling and hanging out with turtles on the way to the North Shore. And my favourite resort was The Royal Hawaiian for its lush gardens and amazing restaurants. With so much to see in Hawai’i, you’ll need longer than you think.” ~ Cristiana.
