5 Things You Haven’t Done in Hawai’i Yet
There’s nothing quite like a tropical island escape to Hawai’i. We may be biased, but as My Hawaii Experts, it’s our favourite place to be. And when we’re not in Hawai’i, we’re thinking about being there! With palm-fringed beaches and My Hawaii All Day Happy Hour in most of our resorts, you’d be forgiven for travelling to Hawai’i and lazing the days away by the pool or on stunning Waikiki Beach. But if this is your second or third visit, we highly recommend venturing beyond the resorts and ocean. There’s so much else to see and do in Hawai’i. So, here are 5 things you haven’t done in Hawai’i – yet!

With a rich heritage, no Hawai’ian holiday is complete without immersing yourself in the local culture. There’s no better place to do so than at the Polynesian Cultural Centre, located on O’ahu’s stunning North Shore. Voted the number one paid attraction in Hawai’i, the Polynesian Cultural Centre offers a traditional island experience you’ll never forget. Explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawai’i
Explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawai’i
The Island of Hawai’i, or Big Island, is home to some spectacular natural attractions, including the awe-inspiring Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Located just 70 kilometres from the town of Hilo, the park is home to two active volcanoes: Maunaloa, which last erupted in 1984, and Kilauea, which is known to be one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. No visit to the Island of Hawai’i is complete without exploring this sacred destination. Another can’t-miss adventure in the Park is the Kilauea Iki Trail, which will have you descending 122 metres through dense rainforest into a volcanic crater, before hiking across a hardened lava lake from the 1959 eruption! And if you’re lucky enough to visit when Kilauea is actively erupting, be sure to check out the incredible lava flow.

Drive the Road to Hana, Maui
The pristine island of Maui is a bucket-list destination for many, and for good reason. The Valley Isle is famed for its sun-kissed shorelines, rugged valleys, and golden sunsets, and is home to Hawaii’s most iconic road trip, the Road to Hana. The Hana Highway is an 83-kilometre stretch that leads drivers through lush rainforest canopies, towering waterfalls, plunging pools, and dramatic seascapes. With plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the breathtaking views, this is a drive you’ll remember for a lifetime. While the Road to Hana is all about the journey, there’s plenty to explore in the quiet town of Hana itself. Explore the black sand beaches of Waianapanapa State Park, trek to the 400-foot Waimoku Falls, or shop for unique souvenirs at the Hana Ranch Store. Trust us when we say it’s well worth the trip.
